We Took a Great Location and Rebuilt Everything

In the early 1970s, a group of local residents started Carrollwood Golf and Tennis Club. They hired well-known golf course architect Ed Ault to build 27 holes before Tampa's growth really started to explode. The location, just 10 minutes from downtown Tampa, seemed a long way from everything. Today, of course, it would be impossible to build 27 holes just 15 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes away from attractions like Busch Gardens.

In 1981 and 1982, Don January won the Michelob Seniors Classic. Golfers who played in the event here at Emerald Greens included Arnold Palmer, Sam Snead, Billy Casper, and Gene Littler.

The club fell into financial difficulties and was in serious need of a lot of TLC.
A new ownership group stepped in several years ago.

The group recognized the potential of the location and the original routing. Thus began a massive redevelopment of the club. In the past three years, everything has been renovated or rebuilt and, of course, the name has changed to Emerald Greens Golf Resort and Country Club. Today, members and guests get the benefit of the superb location plus totally modern amenities.
